Minnesota Iceman

The Minnesota Iceman, something you may or may not have heard of before. He was a well known side show/circus display. He was on tour with Frank Hansen in the 1960’s and 1970’s in the United States until government agencies such as the FBI started to look into it, thinking that maybe this was actually a human body that Hansen had murdered and was keeping on ice and displaying as a creature in order to hide a murder. Other people, of the science nature, also wanted to examine this frozen body to do testing because they thought this Iceman was a missing link of sorts.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, the Iceman

is supposed to be some kind of creature, over six feet in height who walked on two legs like a man but was covered in hair and not quite human.

There are varying stories of his origins. Hansen originally claimed he bought him off a millionaire in California who had gotten him in Siberia somehow, then later changed the story saying that he himself had shot the Iceman. There are bullet holes in the frozen man’s head. Although when the FBI started to look into the story, Hansen removed the Iceman from the circuit and he wasn’t seen again until now. He resurfaced not too long ago on eBay. He was purchased by the owner of the Museum of the Weird in Austin, Texas, and is now on display there, which is where I got to see him.

It is still unclear as to what this frozen being is, human murder victim, Cro-Magnon, something else, or just a fake. As is the truth behind his origins, which might never actually be known. But the owner of the museum may end up allowing DNA testing to be done on the frozen man, which could be very revealing.

If nothing else, it’s a pretty interesting story. And if you get the chance to check out the museum, the exhibit is only an extra three bucks and worth a look if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

He isn’t exactly the clearest thing to see, it’s hard to make out extremely distinct details through the ice. But you can see parts of his face pretty well. The teeth are extremely visible and disturbing looking, you can also make out an empty eye socket where he was supposed to have been shot. Also, you can see this pinkish red haze around his face in the ice, it was kind of creepy although I’m not quite sure what it was. footprint in snow

Hey, maybe it’s Bigfoot. I don’t know.
